Andrew Moore, NYU ’15, emails us with some great opportunities for students and young lawyers interested in copyright law:

My name is Andrew Moore and I am a recent NYU alumnus and former JIPEL Articles Editor. I wanted to reach out to you to let you know about some great opportunities that your current JIPEL members may be interested in applying for at the U.S. Copyright Office.  First is the Law Clerk Program.  Law Clerks are selected for the summer or either semester.  During the summer after my 2L year, I was a Law Clerk in the Office of the General Counsel and found it to be a very fulfilling experience during which I learned a lot about copyright law and was able to attend congressional hearings and a stakeholder roundtable as well as work on a policy study.  While the position is not paid, I did receive PILC funding.  More information on the internship program can be found here.

The second opportunity is the Barbara A. Ringer Copyright Honors Program, an 18-24 month paid fellowship for attorneys at the beginning of their careers.  I am currently working as a Ringer Fellow and, as with my time as a Law Clerk, I am enjoying my experience.  I have had the opportunity to work on a wide variety of issues and find the work both exciting and challenging.  Applications for the Ringer Honors Program are due on October 15th and you can find more information about the Program here.

I highly recommend that anyone who is interested in a career in copyright apply for either of these programs.  Please feel free to share this information with JIPEL members or anyone else who may be interested in applying. Please also feel free to contact me if you have any questions, and I would be more than happy to try and answer any questions about either program or my personal experiences in them.

Best,

Andrew P. Moore
